Has anyone played with a media extender other than the Xbox360?
A Media Centre extender comes with (a later update to?) a version of Windows Home Server but:
i) is there a way of uninstalling the extender?
I recently changed from a home built PC with WHS to a HP MediaSmart Server which runs WHS. Whilst I removed the original WHS console and reinstalled the HP version...it does not seem to have changed or updated the extender.
The extender will no longer archive recordings to the server. I would have preferred to have removed the extender at the time and made a fresh addition...but there seemed no way to do this.
ii) is there anyway of forcing the extender to re-index available files…I still seem to be stuck with some long gone.
I am using the Vista version of MC. It could be a permissions issue…but I can access the WHS server OK outside MC. Also WHS is backing up the MC nightly with no problems.
